A po­lice of­fi­cer was shot and killed in the Pe­nal Polic­ing Dis­trict, this morn­ing at about 9 o'clock.

The Po­lice Ser­vice has con­firmed the iden­ti­ty of the de­ceased as PC Mo­hammed, who had re­tired from the Ser­vice three years ago.

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that fol­low­ing the shoot­ing, two per­sons were in­ter­cept­ed in a ve­hi­cle in Su­chit Trace in Pe­nal. The men were ar­rest­ed and a firearm be­lieved to be used in the shoot­ing was re­cov­ered.

A mo­tive is yet to be es­tab­lished for the killing.
