Tobago police are searching for two men behind an armed heist at Caribbean Jewelers at the Gulf City Lowlands Mall just before midday yesterday.
CCTV surveillance footage inside the store, shared via social media, showed two bandits wearing construction hats and safety jackets posing as customers before robbing the store.
In the clip, one of the bandits was seen kicking and stamping the security guard on his head and body as he crouched on the ground.
The second suspect was seen leaving from the back of the store with a black garbage bag.
Police said the security guard sustained injuries to the head.
When Guardian Media visited the mall, patrons and business owners were tight-lipped and workers at nearby stores said they were left traumatised.
One woman who didn’t want to be named said, “This cannot be happening in Tobago and in broad daylight. When we get this bad it’s time to pack up and leave.”
Investigators said the bandits escaped with an undisclosed amount of jewellery.
