Police are investigating a suspected homicide after a 70-year-old homeless man was found dead at the St Joseph Secondary School on Sunday.
Authorities reported that around 11.45 am, Vishnu Maharaj was discovered at the abandoned building following a tip from a fellow homeless man, who said Maharaj had fallen.
The 39-year-old man, also socially displaced, visited the St Joseph Police Station to inform officers of the incident.
Police visited the abandoned school and found Maharaj on the upper floor of one of the buildings, with blood coming from his head.
Maharaj’s body was subsequently removed and sent to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy to determine the cause of death before it can be officially classified.
