Investigations are continuing into two shooting incidents on Monday night in which three people were injured. The incidents occurred at Malabar and Maracas/St Joseph.
Police said at about 7.45 pm, a 41-year-old man and a 58-year-old man were sitting under a tree in a savannah on Banyan Boulevard, Malabar, when a dark-coloured vehicle stopped alongside them. Three men dressed in black, two of them armed with guns, came out of the vehicle and fired several shots at them.
The men were taken to the Arima Health Facility where they were treated and warded. Police recovered 28 spent 9mm shells on the scene.
In Maracas/St Joseph, at about 8.20 pm, police officers responded to a report of a shooting in progress at Belle View Hill, Acono Road. When they arrived at the scene they were told nothing like that happened in the area. They were however later informed by residents that someone was taken to the hospital for gunshot wounds.
Officers visited the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where they were told by security that the victim was brought into the hospital at about 8.35 pm with multiple gunshot wounds and was sent for emergency surgery.
