The investigation into last weekend’s mass shooting in Cocorite is continuing with the Homicide Bureau pursuing several leads.
Guardian Media was told by a senior police official yesterday that, “Officers are on the ground and we are pursuing several leads but unfortunately, we haven’t been able to make any breakthrough yet.”
And while several people were questioned about the homicides, no one has been arrested or charged in relation to the killings.
However, two people of interest who were questioned in connection to a discovery of ammunition at a house in Cocorite hours after the shooting last Saturday remained in police custody. Police said it is likely they will be charged with possession of ammunition.
Following the May 4 shooting at Phase One, Powder Magazine, Cocorite - Shaquille Ottley, 22; Sadiki Ottley, 31; Jonathan Osmond, 36; and Antonio Jack, 57; were shot dead at the scene.
Eight other people had to be hospitalised for injuries sustained during the mass shooting. In all twelve people were shot.
Although the T&T Police Service (TTPS) and the T&T Defence Force (TTDF) have set up temporary quarters at the apartment complex since the incident, residents are fearful that when they leave – residents will again become a target for those factions warring for power and turf.
