Officers from the La Romaine Police Post and the San Fernando Crime Patrol Unit recovered a stolen vehicle during an Anti-Crime Stop and Search exercise in La Romaine on Monday.
Around 11:00 p.m., PC Jugoon intercepted a silver Nissan AD Wagon along La Plaisance Road, La Romaine. The vehicle was driven by a 30-year-old man of Marcano Street, Princes Town.
Police said the officers identified themselves and informed the driver of the operation. When requested, the man produced a driver’s permit and a certificate of insurance, both of which were expired.
Checks conducted by PC Jugoon revealed that the chassis number on the vehicle did not match the chassis number registered to the license plate. Police said this discovery raised suspicions of tampering. The suspect was detained, and the vehicle was taken to the San Fernando Police Station.
Further investigations were conducted by Inspector Lazarus of the Stolen Vehicles Department. According to police, the chassis number matched a silver Nissan AD Wagon that had been reported stolen in 2018 in the Woodbrook Police District.
The joint operation was carried out by officers from the La Romaine Police Post and the San Fernando Crime Patrol Unit. Investigations are continuing.
