Of­fi­cers from the La Ro­maine Po­lice Post and the San Fer­nan­do Crime Pa­trol Unit re­cov­ered a stolen ve­hi­cle dur­ing an An­ti-Crime Stop and Search ex­er­cise in La Ro­maine on Mon­day.

Around 11:00 p.m., PC Ju­goon in­ter­cept­ed a sil­ver Nis­san AD Wag­on along La Plai­sance Road, La Ro­maine. The ve­hi­cle was dri­ven by a 30-year-old man of Mar­cano Street, Princes Town.

Po­lice said the of­fi­cers iden­ti­fied them­selves and in­formed the dri­ver of the op­er­a­tion. When re­quest­ed, the man pro­duced a dri­ver’s per­mit and a cer­tifi­cate of in­sur­ance, both of which were ex­pired.

Checks con­duct­ed by PC Ju­goon re­vealed that the chas­sis num­ber on the ve­hi­cle did not match the chas­sis num­ber reg­is­tered to the li­cense plate. Po­lice said this dis­cov­ery raised sus­pi­cions of tam­per­ing. The sus­pect was de­tained, and the ve­hi­cle was tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Po­lice Sta­tion.

Fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tions were con­duct­ed by In­spec­tor Lazarus of the Stolen Ve­hi­cles De­part­ment. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, the chas­sis num­ber matched a sil­ver Nis­san AD Wag­on that had been re­port­ed stolen in 2018 in the Wood­brook Po­lice Dis­trict.

The joint op­er­a­tion was car­ried out by of­fi­cers from the La Ro­maine Po­lice Post and the San Fer­nan­do Crime Pa­trol Unit. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing.
