Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley had a com­fort­able night and will have med­ical tests con­duct­ed, to­day.

Con­fir­ma­tion has come from a state­ment is­sued by the Of­fice of the Prime Min­is­ter, this morn­ing.

Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley spent last night un­der ob­ser­va­tion at the West Shore Med­ical Pri­vate Hos­pi­tal in Co­corite, af­ter be­ing ad­mit­ted to the fa­cil­i­ty around 5 pm yes­ter­day.

Dr Row­ley checked him­self in­to the fa­cil­i­ty “as a pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sure” af­ter ex­pe­ri­enc­ing some dis­com­fort.

Ini­tial re­ports had in­di­cat­ed that he had been ex­pe­ri­enc­ing car­diac prob­lems, but sources told Guardian Me­dia that doc­tors check­ing the prime min­is­ter were able to rule out any se­ri­ous heart prob­lem.

How­ev­er, he was kept for ob­ser­va­tion.

Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Stu­art Young, who was among the PM’s vis­i­tors last night, said he was in very good spir­its.

The prime min­is­ter was sup­posed to host a news con­fer­ence to­day at 2:30 pm on COVID-19 mea­sures.

Young said that me­dia con­fer­ence was now post­poned to a date to be an­nounced.

In 2019, PM Row­ley un­der­went med­ical tests in Cal­i­for­nia con­cern­ing some ‘soft plaque’ which was found in one of his ar­ter­ies.

The is­sue orig­i­nal­ly arose in 2016 when he car­ried out a se­ries of tests for prostate can­cer in the US, fol­low­ing which he was giv­en a clean bill of health.
