The Rotary Club of Princes Town hosted a free medical outreach at the St Mary’s Government Primary School on Sunday.
The event was aimed at offering vital health services to the community of Moruga. Approximately 80 people were registered and received care from a dedicated team of medical professionals and volunteers.
Some of the services included blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol testing, as well as doctor consultations, pharmaceutical support, dental exams, vision testing, legal advice, and flu shots.
Member of the Princes Town Rotary Club, Michael Cooper-Ochiengh said, “The medical outreach at St Mary’s was inspired by our Rotary Club’s unwavering commitment to disease prevention and treatment (one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus).
“Each year we endeavour to host free medical outreach clinics and building on this year’s successful initiatives—from community screenings with Meraki Medical Centre to partnering with the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago National Primary School Quiz, as well as assisting with specific needs for surgery and wheelchairs—we recognised the continued need for accessible healthcare and wellness education in underserved areas.
“This outreach was a natural continuation of our mission to bring vital health services and education directly to the people, empowering them with knowledge, care, and compassion.”
He added, “Our hope is to continue creating meaningful change, one life and one community at a time. We envision a future where healthcare is not a privilege but a basic right—where our outreaches grow in reach and impact, inspiring healthier lifestyles and strengthening community well-being.
“As we move into a new Rotary year, we carry forward the belief that every act of service is a spark of magic—a reminder that real change in our communities begins with compassion, partnership, and the courage to ‘Serve Above Self’.”
The initiative forms part of the Rotary Club of Princes Town’s ongoing commitment to promoting health and wellness in the region, especially among underserved populations.
They thanked all the service providers, volunteers, and community members who made the day a success.
