All visits to prison facilities across the country have been suspended on Tuesday to allow prison officers to attend the funeral service of murdered acting Supt Wayne Jackson, according to a statement from the Prison Service.
Jackson, 50, 0f Malabar, Arima was shot dead a week ago as he arrived home.
Two suspects have been arrested and remain in police custody.
His murder sparked a top-level meeting among the heads of national security and a new inter-agency task force was appointed to investigate the crime. Jackson's murder has been reportedly linked to a threat he received from inmates at the Maximum Security Prison.
Normal visits will resume on Wednesday, the Prison Service stated.
The funeral service will take place at 10 am at the Bethel World Outreach Ministries, behind the Arima Licencing Office, and Jackson will be buried at the D'Abdadie Public Cemetery, Eastern Main Road.
