Police are trying to piece together the circumstances surrounding an attack on a man who was found lying on the road at Price Plaza, Chaguanas with multiple chop wounds about the body.
The 33-year-old who previously lived in Couva, was discovered around 1.45 am yesterday, lying on the ground in the carpark in the vicinity of Rango's Restaurant.
The ambulance service was called in. However, Emergency Health Services personnel contacted the police for help after the victim refused to even give his name and cooperate unless he was taken to hospital.
The man was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility where he was stabilised before being transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope.
Investigations revealed the victim had been chopped by several men who were chasing him in a grey panel van.
He suffered multiple chop wounds about the body including the neck, back, elbow, lower arm, and foot.
