The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service says an inmate was discovered missing from his cell at the Carrera Convict Prison at about 8.32 p.m. on Friday November 14, 2025, during routine checks.
Ordinary Prisoner Jamal Joseph is serving a five-year sentence with hard labour for “Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.” He was expected to be released in October 2028.
The Prison Service has activated its emergency response protocols, and national security agencies — including the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, and the Operational Command Centre — have been notified and are working to locate and apprehend him.
An internal investigation is under way to determine the circumstances of the suspected escape.
Officials are urging the public to remain calm and contact the nearest police station or the prison hotline 800-PRSN (7776) with any information that could assist. Joseph is considered armed and dangerous.
