The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service is confirming the apprehension of a Prisons Officer who was found to be in possession of a quantity of plant-like material and cigarettes at around 5:35 am today, Thursday 7th April 2022.
The confirmation came via an official statement on the Prison Service’s social media.
The statement revealed that the officer in question has over twenty-nine years of service and is attached to the Port of Spain Prison.
According to an initial report, the prisons officer was searched outside the prison by members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, when he reported for duty this morning.
Police officers found several packets containing plant-like material and cigarettes on his person during their search.
The prisons officer subsequently was escorted to the Central Police Station, where currently he is assisting with enquiries.
