The Trinidad and To­ba­go Prison Ser­vice is con­firm­ing the ap­pre­hen­sion of a Pris­ons Of­fi­cer who was found to be in pos­ses­sion of a quan­ti­ty of plant-like ma­te­r­i­al and cig­a­rettes at around 5:35 am to­day, Thurs­day 7th April 2022.

The con­fir­ma­tion came via an of­fi­cial state­ment on the Prison Ser­vice’s so­cial me­dia.

The state­ment re­vealed that the of­fi­cer in ques­tion has over twen­ty-nine years of ser­vice and is at­tached to the Port of Spain Prison.

Ac­cord­ing to an ini­tial re­port, the pris­ons of­fi­cer was searched out­side the prison by mem­bers of the Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice, when he re­port­ed for du­ty this morn­ing.

Po­lice of­fi­cers found sev­er­al pack­ets con­tain­ing plant-like ma­te­r­i­al and cig­a­rettes on his per­son dur­ing their search.

The pris­ons of­fi­cer sub­se­quent­ly was es­cort­ed to the Cen­tral Po­lice Sta­tion, where cur­rent­ly he is as­sist­ing with en­quiries.
