The Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty (WASA) has an­nounced that the Point Fortin De­sali­na­tion Plant is cur­rent­ly op­er­at­ing be­low nor­mal ca­pac­i­ty due to an elec­tri­cal is­sue.

Ac­cord­ing to in­for­ma­tion pro­vid­ed by Sev­en Seas Wa­ter (SSW), the own­er and op­er­a­tor of the fa­cil­i­ty, the plant re­sumed op­er­a­tions on Fri­day, May 16, 2025, fol­low­ing planned me­chan­i­cal re­pair works.

How­ev­er, post-restart, an elec­tri­cal is­sue has lim­it­ed pro­duc­tion to 4.6 mil­lion gal­lons per day (mgd), down from the stan­dard 5.5 mgd.

WASA stat­ed it is main­tain­ing close com­mu­ni­ca­tion with SSW as re­pairs con­tin­ue and will is­sue fur­ther up­dates as nec­es­sary.

Cus­tomers in the fol­low­ing ar­eas may ex­pe­ri­ence low wa­ter pres­sure or no wa­ter dur­ing this pe­ri­od:

Point Fortin prop­er, parts of Techi­er, Vance Riv­er, Par­ry­lands, Cochrane, Ma­haica, Lot 10, Cochrane, Sa­van­nah, Har­ri­man Park, Clifton Hill, Reser­voir Hill, Mer­ri­mac, Ves­signy, TGU, and La Brea (up to the Pitch Lake).

A lim­it­ed truck-borne wa­ter sup­ply will be made avail­able up­on re­quest. Cus­tomers may ac­cess this ser­vice via WASA’s Cus­tomer Por­tal at www.wasa.gov.tt
