The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has announced that the Point Fortin Desalination Plant is currently operating below normal capacity due to an electrical issue.
According to information provided by Seven Seas Water (SSW), the owner and operator of the facility, the plant resumed operations on Friday, May 16, 2025, following planned mechanical repair works.
However, post-restart, an electrical issue has limited production to 4.6 million gallons per day (mgd), down from the standard 5.5 mgd.
WASA stated it is maintaining close communication with SSW as repairs continue and will issue further updates as necessary.
