Relative of missing US citizen still holding out hope

A rel­a­tive of miss­ing US cit­i­zen Gand­hi Ram­lochan is still hope­ful he can be found safe.

Ram­lochan, 66, was last seen on Sun­day night by a friend on Mon­roe Road, Cunu­pia.

On Mon­day night, Cen­tral Di­vi­sion po­lice re­ceived a re­port that a burnt Hyundai Elantra was found in a dirt track off the Ca­roni South Bank Road.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said burnt hu­man re­mains were found in the trunk of the car.

The re­mains were burnt be­yond recog­ni­tion.

Guardian Me­dia vis­it­ed the home of Ram­lochan's fam­i­ly at their Ram­s­ingh Street, Cunu­pia, home to­day and spoke with a rel­a­tive who said that oth­er fam­i­ly mem­bers vis­it­ed the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, St James, ear­li­er to pro­vide DNA sam­ples to con­firm the iden­ti­ty of the re­mains.

She said the fam­i­ly was con­cerned but still hold­ing on­to hope that Ram­lochan was still alive.

"We're hop­ing it (the re­mains) is not him be­cause he's not a bad per­son.

"He on­ly came in­to the coun­try on Sat­ur­day night."

The rel­a­tive said Ram­lochan was warned by sev­er­al fam­i­ly mem­bers about wear­ing flashy jew­ellery when lim­ing in Trinidad.

Ram­lochan vis­it­ed TT as part of his birth­day cel­e­bra­tions.

He lived in Queens, New York.
