Religious group calls for urgent measures to reduce crime

With their hearts bur­dened by re­cent mur­ders, rapes and rob­beries, con­cerned cit­i­zens for a bet­ter San Fer­nan­do are plan­ning to hit the streets, call­ing for ur­gent mea­sures to re­duce crime.

In a me­dia con­fer­ence at Har­ris Prom­e­nade, San Fer­nan­do, this morn­ing, Pun­dit Rudranath Ma­haraj an­nounced a mo­tor­cade and ral­ly on June 3rd.

The an­ti-crime move­ment be­gins at 9:30 am at Palmiste Park in sOuth Trinidad and ends at the Na­pari­ma Col­lege ground at Lewis Street, San Fer­nan­do.

Ma­haraj, along with Pas­tor Clive Dot­tin, says they will pray for the na­tion and de­mand the im­ple­men­ta­tion of joint po­lice/de­fence force pa­trols, among oth­er mea­sures.

The group plans to de­liv­er these de­mands to Pres­i­dent Chris­tine Kan­ga­loo, Prime Min­is­ter Dr Kei­th Row­ley and Op­po­si­tion Leader Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar short­ly af­ter.
