Forty-one people who were appointed to serve as Returning Officers for the April 28, 2025 General Election received the Writs of Election issued by President Christine Kangaloo. This paves the way for the Returning Officers to have the authority to “cause a poll to be taken in their respective electoral districts on behalf of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC)”.
The General Election is being held on April 28.
According to a statement from the EBC yesterday, Chief Election Officer, Fern Narcis-Scope commended the Returning Officers and prospective Election Clerks for their dedication to the electoral process. Assistant Chief Election Officer Pamela Ogiste also emphasised the theme of Building Bridges and Fostering Trust in the Electoral Process. She said that elections are the foundation of democracy and that public confidence in the system relies not only on the rules and regulations upheld but also on the integrity, professionalism, and dedication of those who administer the process.
The Returning Officers and prospective Election Officers were also given a motivational speech which encouraged them to have a “strong sense of duty in upholding the integrity of the electoral process.”
