North East­ern Di­vi­sion of­fi­cers have seized a ri­fle and a quan­ti­ty of am­mu­ni­tion dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise in San­ta Cruz.

In a me­dia re­lease the TTPS said, dur­ing the in­tel­li­gence-led ex­er­cise con­duct­ed be­tween 3:45 pm and 6:00 pm yes­ter­day, of­fi­cers re­ceived in­for­ma­tion and then pro­ceed­ed to Or­ange­field Road, La Pas­to­ra Road, Up­per San­ta Cruz, where they car­ried out an ex­ten­sive search of the area. 

It said while search­ing a chick­en coop, they found a black plas­tic bag con­tain­ing one Galil Ace Sar 7.62 cal­i­bre ri­fle, one mag­a­zine and 30 rounds of 7.62 am­mu­ni­tion. 

The of­fi­cers took pos­ses­sion of the il­le­gal items and PC Man­na is con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
