Mo­torists and com­muters are be­ing ad­vised to avoid Pax Vale, San­ta Cruz, fol­low­ing a com­plete road block­age caused by a fall­en tree that has come in­to con­tact with Trinidad and To­ba­go Elec­tric­i­ty Com­mis­sion (T&TEC) pow­er lines.

The Min­istry of Rur­al De­vel­op­ment and Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment said Pow­er Saw Op­er­a­tors from the Dis­as­ter Man­age­ment Co­or­di­nat­ing Unit of the San Juan/Laven­tille Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion are on site.

T&TEC has al­so been no­ti­fied and clear­ing op­er­a­tions are ex­pect­ed.

Mo­torists are be­ing urged to use al­ter­na­tive routes where pos­si­ble to min­imise de­lays and to ex­er­cise ex­treme cau­tion in the sur­round­ing ar­eas while emer­gency and util­i­ty crews work to se­cure and clear the scene.

The min­istry said fur­ther up­dates will be pro­vid­ed as the sit­u­a­tion de­vel­ops.
