Rohan Sinanan has officially tendered his resignation as Deputy Political Leader of the People’s National Movement (PNM), effective May 1, 2025.
In a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the PNM, Sinanan described his time in the position as a "tremendous honour" and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the party at a leadership level.
He highlighted the valuable experience and insight he gained while working alongside fellow party members and credited them for their dedication and commitment.
“This decision comes after thoughtful reflection, as I continue to balance my responsibilities and focus on other areas of service,” Sinanan stated. Despite stepping down from the role, he reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s ideals and pledged ongoing support for its mission to further Trinidad and Tobago’s development.
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to former political leader Dr. Keith Rowley, thanking him for the confidence placed in him as a deputy, and acknowledged the trust, support, and camaraderie shown to him during his tenure.
In a further statement explaining his decision, Sinanan said: “In accordance with the principles of the Westminster system of government, and having been appointed Deputy Political Leader by Dr. Keith Rowley, it is only proper that upon his resignation as Political Leader, I too tender my resignation.
This decision reflects both a respect for the natural course of political succession and the responsibilities that come with such an appointment.”
