Ro­han Sinanan has of­fi­cial­ly ten­dered his res­ig­na­tion as Deputy Po­lit­i­cal Leader of the Peo­ple’s Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM), ef­fec­tive May 1, 2025.

In a let­ter ad­dressed to the Gen­er­al Sec­re­tary of the PNM, Sinanan de­scribed his time in the po­si­tion as a "tremen­dous ho­n­our" and ex­pressed grat­i­tude for the op­por­tu­ni­ty to serve the par­ty at a lead­er­ship lev­el.

He high­light­ed the valu­able ex­pe­ri­ence and in­sight he gained while work­ing along­side fel­low par­ty mem­bers and cred­it­ed them for their ded­i­ca­tion and com­mit­ment.

“This de­ci­sion comes af­ter thought­ful re­flec­tion, as I con­tin­ue to bal­ance my re­spon­si­bil­i­ties and fo­cus on oth­er ar­eas of ser­vice,” Sinanan stat­ed. De­spite step­ping down from the role, he reaf­firmed his com­mit­ment to the par­ty’s ideals and pledged on­go­ing sup­port for its mis­sion to fur­ther Trinidad and To­ba­go’s de­vel­op­ment.

He al­so ex­tend­ed heart­felt ap­pre­ci­a­tion to for­mer po­lit­i­cal leader Dr. Kei­th Row­ley, thank­ing him for the con­fi­dence placed in him as a deputy, and ac­knowl­edged the trust, sup­port, and ca­ma­raderie shown to him dur­ing his tenure.

In a fur­ther state­ment ex­plain­ing his de­ci­sion, Sinanan said: “In ac­cor­dance with the prin­ci­ples of the West­min­ster sys­tem of gov­ern­ment, and hav­ing been ap­point­ed Deputy Po­lit­i­cal Leader by Dr. Kei­th Row­ley, it is on­ly prop­er that up­on his res­ig­na­tion as Po­lit­i­cal Leader, I too ten­der my res­ig­na­tion.

This de­ci­sion re­flects both a re­spect for the nat­ur­al course of po­lit­i­cal suc­ces­sion and the re­spon­si­bil­i­ties that come with such an ap­point­ment.”
