The funeral for the late Martin Terry Rondon, former chairman of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation and councillor for Valencia East/Toco will take place on Wednesday.
This was confirmed yesterday by Rondon’s relatives as well as Kenwyn Phillips, the present chairman of the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation.
Relatives said the funeral service will be held at the St Charles RC Church in Tunapuna at 11 am. Following the service there will be a public viewing at the National Racquet Centre, Orange Grove Road, Tacarigua, and then to the nearby Belgroves Funeral Home, Trincity, for the cremation.
Before that, Rondon’s body will be taken on Monday to the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation, where he spent 28 years as both a councillor and chairman, for public viewing.
Anisia Williams, councillor for Valencia East/Toco, who replaced Rondon, said a motorcade was planned for Monday from Matelot to the corporation in the former councillor’s honour.
Members of the corporation and residents of the communities are expected to hold a wake for Rondon as well.
