Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said he will not be inviting international observers to oversee the upcoming Local Government Elections.

This was a request from Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar who said the UNC does not trust the government with that process.

However, speaking at a Breakfast with the Prime Minister function hosted by the PNM this morning at the Hilton, Dr Rowley responded to her request with a short but resounding "no."

Dr Rowley said the PNM's record is without blemish and when they call elections, the party will stand by its record.

The Prime Minister said the UNC is already doing a good job of attempting to undermine the election. At 1:30pm on Wednesday afternoon, a bill which seeks to validate the work of councillors and aldermen between December 2nd, 2022 and May 18th, 2023 will go to the Senate after being passed in the Lower House on Monday.
