The body of 14-year-old Sameer Ragbir, who got into difficulties while swimming at a beach in Mayaro on Monday, has been found.
His remains were recovered earlier today, following an intensive search that began on May 5, 2025.
Guardian Media understands that shortly before 11 am today (May 7), his body got caught in a fisherman's net close to shore, not far from where he had got into difficulties.
Sameer, along with his two sisters, went to the Sunset Beach Resort in Mayaro on Monday, to celebrate one of their birthdays.
He got into difficulty and disappeared around 3:30 pm while bathing at about 200 feet from the shore.
The Hunters Search and Rescue Team had been assisting in the search for the teen.
