A 40-year-old man is in po­lice cus­tody af­ter be­ing held by po­lice for the pos­ses­sion of a firearm. On Jan­u­ary 12th po­lice were on mo­bile pa­trol, along Pan­co Lane, San Fer­nan­do, when they ob­served a man stand­ing on the road­way with a black plas­tic bag in his hand.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, when the man spot­ted the po­lice, he dropped the bag. Of­fi­cers be­came sus­pi­cious and got out of the po­lice ve­hi­cle and in­spect­ed the plas­tic bag. Dur­ing the search, po­lice of­fi­cers dis­cov­ered a nine mil­lime­tre Lu­gar pis­tol with two rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion.

The 40-year-old man, of Pan­co Lane, San Fer­nan­do, was im­me­di­ate­ly ar­rest­ed for pos­ses­sion of firearm, am­mu­ni­tion and for re­sist­ing ar­rest. The sus­pect is ex­pect­ed to be charged for the of­fences some­time to­day.
