San Juan man shot and killed while liming with friends

The mur­der count rose to 127 yes­ter­day, fol­low­ing the killing of a man in San Juan just af­ter mid­night on Mon­day.

Po­lice said Kel­lon Hutchin­son, 43, was shot mul­ti­ple times at Shend Street, San Juan, around 12.35 am, as he sat on a bench with oth­er peo­ple.

He lat­er died at hos­pi­tal.

Po­lice said Hutchin­son, who had ad­dress­es at both San Juan and Bel­mont, was lim­ing with sev­er­al oth­ers when a gun­man walked up and opened fire on the group.

Res­i­dents re­port­ed hear­ing gun­shots around 12.20 am and emerged to find Hutchin­son ly­ing on the road, bleed­ing from mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds about the body.

They con­tact­ed the Emer­gency Health Ser­vices, who took him to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope, where he was treat­ed.

Hutchin­son, how­ev­er, suc­cumbed to his in­juries and was pro­nounced dead at 1 am.

A to­tal of 16 spent shells were col­lect­ed at the scene. —An­na-Lisa Paul
