While the results of the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) examinations have been out for well over a week now, the excitement is still very much in the air for thousands of students, especially those still beaming with excitement from their excellent results.
Such is the case for over 100 students attached to the 43 primary schools managed by the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha of Trinidad and Tobago Incorporated.
In a special SEA awards function hosted by the SDMS held at the Lakshmi Girls’ Hindu College yesterday, 129 students who topped their primary schools in the SEA examination were honoured for their achievements.
Outshining everyone was 11-year-old Navya Seenath who attended the Sangre Grande Hindu Primary School.
With an almost perfect score, Seenath achieved 100 per cent in Creative Writing, 98.67 in Mathematics and 92.19 in ELA earning her first-choice at the Lakshmi Girls’ Hindu College.
Speaking to Guardian Media after the awards function, a very shy Seenath said was excited about her results.
She said her favourite subject is Mathematics and she hopes to become a paediatrician one day.
Seenath said, “I feel very happy and excited that I earned all of this … It was mostly schoolwork and prayer.”
Asked what advice she has for students who will be sitting the SEA examination next year, she said, “They should follow their goals and dreams.”
Her very proud parents Navin and Priya Bissram-Seenath said their daughter put in many hours of hard work to achieve her success.
Priya said, “It was a lot of work, a lot of prayers, but she really persevered. It took a lot, but I am so elated that she has accomplished this and I am so proud of her.”
Navin said, “She’s a very loving child, caring. She loves playing video games, travelling, and other extracurricular activities. She made us proud. We didn’t expect this. She did many, many hours of studies, extra studies apart from school. We’d like to thank the teachers, the lesson teachers, her grandparents, her principal and her class teacher.”
