Search for missing fisherman ends in tragedy

The search for miss­ing Char­lot­teville man Michael Yeates came to an end yes­ter­day morn­ing when his body was found float­ing in the wa­ters off Bot­tom Bay.

Po­lice said around 6.30 am, a man called the Char­lot­teville Po­lice Sta­tion af­ter spot­ting what ap­peared to be a body drift­ing ap­prox­i­mate­ly 150 feet from the shore­line.

Fish­er­man An­tho­ny Jack and oth­ers re­spond­ed and brought the body to shore at Max Lane, Camp­ble­ton.

The body was lat­er iden­ti­fied as 31-year-old Michael Yeates of Camp­ble­ton Road, Char­lot­teville. His aunt, Ver­i­lyn Yeates, con­firmed the iden­ti­ty.

Yeates had been re­port­ed miss­ing at sea over the week­end.

Po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the sus­pect­ed drown­ing.
