A 22-year-old se­cu­ri­ty guard who hap­pened to be dri­ving near a shoot­ing in Aranguez, was shot in his right shoul­der on Sat­ur­day night.

Po­lice said around 8pm the guard was dri­ving his Suzu­ki van on the Aranguez Main Road. He said he heard gun­shots.

The guard then felt a burn­ing in his right shoul­der and called the po­lice.

Barataria po­lice took the wound­ed man to hos­pi­tal where he re­mained ward­ed in sta­ble con­di­tion up to Sun­day morn­ing.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said the shoot­ing be­gan when men in a white Suzu­ki SUV shot at a group of Venezue­lans in the area.

The gun­men missed their in­tend­ed tar­gets, hit­ting the guard in­stead.

Barataria po­lice are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
