A security guard is in stable condition, after being stabbed several times during an attack at a Crown Point fast food restaurant on Sunday morning.
Around midnight, the 43-year-old guard was on duty at Trinidad and Tobago Chicken Hut, located on Milford Road, adjacent to the Jade Monkey Bar, when a man attempted to enter the establishment carrying an alcoholic beverage.
The guard told the man that he could not bring alcohol inside, which led to an argument between them.
The man left but soon returned and approached the guard from behind. During a struggle, the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the guard several times about his body. The victim was rushed to the Scarborough General Hospital, where he received treatment and remains stable under the care of doctors.
The attacker, identified as a 36-year-old man of Opal Drive, Signal Hill, was arrested at the scene by officers from the Crown Point Police Station.
The suspect was also taken to the Scarborough General Hospital for medical treatment and is also warded at the hospital.
Police visited the hospital and confirmed the victim remains in a stable condition. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, as the police continue to gather evidence and question witnesses. —Elizabeth Gonzales
