Seven suspects were arrested and a firearm and quantities of cannabis seized during State of Emergency operations in the Central and Western Divisions.
In the first exercise, Task Force officers were on patrol in the Carlsen Field district around 9 pm on Wednesday 15th October, 2025, when they intercepted a white Nissan Almera with five male occupants. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of one Beretta pistol with one magazine containing three rounds of ammunition. The suspects, ages 21 to 30, were arrested in connection with the find.
In a separate exercise in the Chaguanas district, detectives of the Criminal Investigations Department conducted searches between 12 noon and 4 pm on Thursday. Officers then proceeded to the Piarco district, where they searched the home of a suspect and found nine tall cannabis plants. The man was arrested in connection with the find.
In the Western Division, an Operation Steadfast exercise was conducted between 11 am and 4 am on October 15th in the Diego Martin district. During the operation, officers found two transparent bags containing a quantity of cannabis. Further searches in the Diamond Vale district led to the discovery of 1.035 kilogrammes of cannabis hidden under a sheet of galvanise.
The operation was sanctioned by Snr. Supt. Williams, coordinated by ASP (Ag.) Aguillera and Insp. Grant, and supervised by Sgt. (Ag.) Dominique, with support from the Canine Unit.
