Seven suspects were arrested and two firearms and quantities of ammunition and narcotics seized by officers during ongoing anticrime exercises, conducted in the North Eastern and Southern Divisions on Thursday.
In the first exercise, Task Force officers conducted an exercise in the North Eastern Division between 10 am and 1 pm, on Thursday.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to Seventh Avenue, Malick, where they arrested a 29-year-old suspect of Barataria, who was found in possession of a Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 14 rounds of ammunition.
A second man, a 28-year-old of Malick, was also held by officers in relation to shooting offences.
Meanwhile, officers of the Barataria Police Station conducted an exercise in the district between 7:30 pm yesterday and 1:30 am, today, Friday 9th February, 2024, during which they arrested a 19-year-old Aranguez man, for possession of a Smith and Wesson revolver loaded with three rounds of ammunition.
In the Southern Division, officers of the Gasparillo Police Station, Gasparillo Criminal Investigations Department and St. Margaret’s Police Station conducted an anti-crime exercise around 10:15 pm, on Thursday.
During the exercise, the officers proceeded to a bar in the Bonne Aventure district where they arrested two men, ages 21 and 20, both of Gasparillo, for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
The same party of officers also held two other persons in the district; a 66-year-old man in connection with wounding offences and a 47-year-old man for possession of ammunition.
