Flood­ed with com­plaints of po­lice in­ac­tion, Snr Supt Zamsheed Mo­hammed is ex­pect­ed to is­sue a mem­o­ran­dum in­struct­ing all sergeants in the South­ern Di­vi­sion to fol­low-up on re­ports from the pub­lic.

“You leave a phone num­ber and they will be in­struct­ed to com­mu­ni­cate with you di­rect­ly be­cause if they can’t get the con­sta­bles to do it, they will do it them­selves,” Mo­hammed told at­ten­dees of Mon­day’s po­lice town meet­ing at the Princes Town Prom­e­nade.

His in­struc­tion came af­ter mem­bers of the pub­lic com­plained of be­ing threat­ened and dis­missed by po­lice of­fi­cers when they in­quire about the sta­tus of their re­ports.

Mo­hammed said that from last night, sergeants will be re­spon­si­ble for all in­quiries.

“What I am get­ting here tonight, di­rect­ly, is that re­ports are be­ing made at the sta­tion and there is no fol­low up ac­tion to it. What I am un­der­tak­ing to do as of tonight, is that each sergeant in the South­ern Di­vi­sion, any sta­tion, they will be in­struct­ed to fol­low up on the com­plaints.”

There were al­so com­pli­ments for the Princes Town CID for the pa­trols around the Buen In­ten­to area and the low crime rate dur­ing the Christ­mas sea­son.
