Sig­nal Hill Gov­ern­ment Pri­ma­ry School will re­open to­mor­row af­ter class­es were sus­pend­ed on Jan­u­ary 18 due to a ro­dent in­fes­ta­tion.

In a re­lease yes­ter­day, the Di­vi­sion of Ed­u­ca­tion, In­no­va­tion and Tech­nol­o­gy said af­ter pass­ing health and safe­ty as­sess­ments, health of­fi­cials gave the green light to re­sume class­es.

The school has un­der­gone thor­ough clean­ing and ad­just­ments to meet rec­om­mend­ed stan­dards.

Dur­ing the school’s clo­sure, Stan­dard Five pupils were tem­porar­i­ly re­lo­cat­ed to To­ba­go In­for­ma­tion Tech­nol­o­gy Ltd to con­tin­ue class­es.

All oth­er pupils have had ac­cess to asyn­chro­nous learn­ing and ed­u­ca­tion­al pack­ages.

Sec­re­tary for the di­vi­sion Zor­isha Hack­ett said prin­ci­pals are asked to mon­i­tor any ro­dent ac­tiv­i­ty in school to pre­vent pro­longed dis­rup­tion of class­es.

She was re­fer­ring to an in­ci­dent last year where St An­drews AC Pri­ma­ry School was closed for weeks due to a rat in­fes­ta­tion.
