A 24-year-old sol­dier and a bar own­er were among 27 per­sons who were tick­et­ed for safe zone, traf­fic, and face mask vi­o­la­tions dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise by of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion yes­ter­day.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, the ex­er­cise was con­duct­ed be­tween the hours of 10 pm and 2 am. A solid­er of Bonair Gar­dens, Ari­ma was tick­et­ed for fail­ing to pro­vide his vac­ci­na­tion card, in a safe zone, while the pro­pri­etor was tick­et­ed for al­low­ing an in­di­vid­ual in­to the safe zone with­out iden­ti­fi­ca­tion.

As the ex­er­cise con­tin­ued, twen­ty-two in­di­vid­u­als were al­so is­sued with traf­fic tick­ets for traf­fic of­fences, while four per­sons were ar­rest­ed for dri­ving un­der the in­flu­ence and five per­sons were is­sued tick­ets for not wear­ing a face mask.

The ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr Supt. Lu­cia Win­ches­ter and su­per­vised by Supt Car­ty, and ASP Ram­dass, Sgt. Sankar and in­clud­ed of­fi­cers from the Mon Re­pos Po­lice Sta­tion, Safe Zone Unit, CSI South Pho­tog­ra­phy and the TTR. The Trinidad and To­ba­go Po­lice Ser­vice wish­es to re­mind the pub­lic and busi­ness­es which op­er­ate as safe zones, TTPS will main­tain vis­i­bil­i­ty and pres­ence to pre­vent breach­es and in­frac­tions of the law.
