Margaret Francisco, wife of Slinger Francisco, known as Sparrow, is frustrated at having to fend off rumours about the health of the calypso superstar. "Give us a little space; it is stressful and frustrating," Margaret Francisco pleaded yesterday. She asked that fans of the calypso legend "leave the family alone so we could catch ourselves."
She said her family has been overwhelmed with rumours and calls after his performance at NAPA Fest last Sunday. In a less-than-perfect performance, an ill Sparrow sang while seated. He has since returned to New York, where he is expected to get medical test results from his doctor Felix Oviasu. Sparrow had suggested he may be suffering from vertigo, a condition which makes a patient feel as though his space is moving. Margaret Francisco urged that people do not call to enquire into the state of health of her husband.
"Give us a little privacy," she pleaded. She lamented that because of a rumour that Sparrow he had passed on, the family had been bombarded with phone calls. Calls have come from several parts of the world. She said: "It is hard; they have been calling at all times. "They have been calling him in New York. He had to switch off his phone."
