Scores of spectators and revellers came out in their numbers as J’Ouvert celebrations kicked off in Sangre Grande yesterday morning.
From as early as 4 am, the main street, from the Police Station to the Old Post Office, Brierley Street, Ojoe and Foster Road taxi stands, and part of Toco Road, were jam-packed with residents dancing and having fun.
The streets were flooded with people, in addition to those who filled the main pavement, all having one objective, which was to enjoy their J’Ouvert with music supplied by DJs at temporary bars set up along the route.
Police, both uniformed and in plain clothes, were seen at every corner along the Eastern Main Road. Officers reported an incident-free J’Ouvert and estimated the crowd to be 20,000.
