A 31-year-old man from St James was stabbed to death in down­town Port-of-Spain on Fri­day night.

Ac­cord­ing to re­ports, around 10 pm, Jabari Phillip, of Benares Street, St James, parked near the cor­ner of Hen­ry Street and In­de­pen­dence Square and got out.

Phillip had a brief ar­gu­ment with a man, who was stand­ing at the side of the road.

The man pulled out a knife and stabbed Phillip once in his chest be­fore run­ning away.

A passer­by who came to Phillip’s as­sis­tance placed him in his car and drove to the Ac­ci­dent and Emer­gency De­part­ment of the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

He was pro­nounced dead on ar­rival.

Phillip’s at­tack­er was not ar­rest­ed, up to late yes­ter­day.
