The Steel Workers’ Union of T&T has signed a nine per cent increase in salaries for workers at National Flour Mills Ltd.
The collective agreement for the period 2018-2022 was officially signed on Friday and was led by the SWUTT President Timothy Bailey and NFM CEO Ian Mitchell.
"The union would like to thank the CEO and Management of NFM along with its consultant Courtney Mc Nish for agreeing to terms that the union considers fair in the current environment," a post from SWUTT stated.
"The union also thanks the members of its negotiations team and Concise Mediation and Consultation Limited (HR/IR consultancy firm) for its research and backroom support which made this agreement possible," it stated.
According to SWUTT, the agreement will realise a nine per cent increase for workers over the 2018-2022 period with improvements in the: vacation allowance, gas mileage allowance, responsibility and vehicle upkeep allowance, subsistence allowance, product allowance and other enhancement realised.
The SWUTT stated that improvements were also made with respect to severance, paternity, promotion and acting for workers.
"The Union looks forward to working with its members and the company to make NFM the leader of its field in T&T, the region, and internationally," SWUTT stated.
