Quick ac­tion by po­lice led to the re­cov­ery of a stolen ve­hi­cle in La Ro­maine ear­ly Thurs­day morn­ing, though the sus­pects man­aged to es­cape.

The 27-year-old own­er had parked his beige Nis­san Almera, val­ued at $30,000, in an un­se­cured garage out­side his Pond Street home around 12:45 a.m., leav­ing the key in the ig­ni­tion. Around 3:20 a.m., he dis­cov­ered the car was miss­ing and con­tact­ed the po­lice.

Of­fi­cers from the San Fer­nan­do CID, South­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force, and Crime Pa­trol units in­ter­cept­ed the ve­hi­cle in the area. How­ev­er, the two oc­cu­pants jumped out at the cor­ner of Church and Gail Streets and es­caped on foot. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
