Police confirmed yesterday that they have not yet found the body of Joann Estick, but a suspect has been arrested in connection with her murder.

A senior officer confirmed yesterday that the 44-year-old suspect was detained on Tuesday, and pig farms in the Siparia area were among several areas the police searched for her body. Estick’s head was found in a cooler on the side of the road in Sennon Village, Siparia, on March 13.

Meanwhile, a relative said they were waiting for one of Estick’s relatives to arrive in T&T before finalising funeral arrangements.

A villager told Guardian Media that 60-year-old Estick hustled odd jobs in the village, cleaning yards and washing cars. She was last seen alive on March 12 walking through the area.

The following day, (March 13) around 1.15 pm, Cpl Patrice and PC Cummings of the South Western Division Task Force were on patrol when someone directed them to a bag near a drain at Sennon Village. Inside the bag, the officers discovered a small plastic cooler containing Estick’s severed head. Officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigation Region 3 are investigating.
