Suspect held in triple homicide

Of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI) Re­gion II have de­tained a sus­pect in con­nec­tion with the triple homi­cide at San Juan on Fri­day. They al­so re­cov­ered the firearm al­leged­ly used to com­mit the mur­ders, along with six live rounds of am­mu­ni­tion and three spent cas­ings.

At ap­prox­i­mate­ly 5 pm on Fri­day, there were re­ports of loud ex­plo­sions at Oudan Trace, Don Miguel Road, San Juan. A close rel­a­tive lat­er told in­ves­ti­ga­tors that he was at home in the bath­room when he heard loud ex­plo­sions. He came out­side and saw three fam­i­ly mem­bers slumped on the couch in the liv­ing room area with gun­shot wounds to the back of their heads.

The vic­tims are Ku­mari Kow­lessar-Timal, 76, of Dal­loway Road, Ari­ma, Radesh­ka Timal, 48, and Za­ckary Shrikan David, 21, a stu­dent, both of Oudan Trace, Don Miguel Road, San Juan.

17 ar­rest­ed for cur­few breach­es

East­ern Di­vi­sion po­lice of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed and charged 17 peo­ple for cur­few breach­es.

Be­tween 3.30 pm and 5.50 pm on Fri­day, five peo­ple were ar­rest­ed for breach­ing the pub­lic health reg­u­la­tions af­ter they were found swim­ming in the Matu­ra Riv­er.

Of­fi­cers went to 10-1/2 mm on theTo­co Main Road, Matu­ra where they saw five peo­ple, three men and two women in the riv­er. They were tak­en to the sta­tion and charged by WPC Dick-Fran­cis for the of­fence and are due to ap­pear vir­tu­al­ly at the San­gre Grande Mag­is­trates’ Court on Oc­to­ber 22.

That ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Ag Snr Supt Khan, su­per­vised by In­sp Si­mon and in­clud­ed Ag Sgt Hazel, Ag Cpl James and of­fi­cers from the Matu­ra Po­lice Sta­tion.

In an­oth­er ex­er­cise in San­gre Grande be­tween 11 pm Fri­day and 2 am yes­ter­day, 12 peo­ple were ar­rest­ed , in­clud­ing nine who were de­tained at Robin­son Lane, Damarie Hill, around 11.05 pm. The three oth­ers were ar­rest­ed along Seeree Trace, Fos­ter Road, around 11.45 pm. All 12 were charged by PC Boodram.

The ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Ag Snr Supt Khan, su­per­vise by Ag Sgt Khan and in­clud­ed Ag Cpl Os­ouna, and of­fi­cers of Area North Task Force.

Three charged for theft of TSTT ca­bles

Three peo­ple were ar­rest­ed and charged for the theft of TSTT ca­bles fol­low­ing sur­veil­lance and search­es in Carlsen Field, Ch­agua­nas, and Mun­do Nue­vo.

Sev­en counts of lar­ce­ny al­leged­ly com­mit­ted on Au­gust 9, Au­gust 16 and Sep­tem­ber 15 were laid against Loren­zo Moon­sam­my, 21, Travis Ram­char­i­tar, 20, both of Ea­gle Dri­ve, Carlsen Field, Ch­agua­nas, and Daryl Ben­ny, 20 of Juan Fuentes Trace, Mun­do Nue­vo. The charges were laid by WPC Samp­son and PC Per­sad and three are sched­uled to ap­pear be­fore an Ari­ma Mag­is­trate to­mor­row.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by Supt Ed­wards, In­sp Ward, In­sp Mas­call, Sgt Bisses­sar, and Ag Cpl Bernard and in­clud­ed mem­bers of the La Hor­quet­ta Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment, the Area East Op­er­a­tions Unit (AEOU), La Hor­quet­ta Charge Room, and TSTT se­cu­ri­ty per­son­nel.
