The woman arrested for the killing of Steve Ghany Junior accompanied police to the crime scene on Friday after giving a recorded statement.
Escorted by her lawyers and senior investigators, Guardian Media understands she took officers to parts of the house where the fatal gun assault took place.
A source said preliminary information has already been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions. Police have begun building a case described as involving infidelity and allegations of abuse.
The 45-year-old mother of two spent a second night in custody, while multiple family members were interviewed.
Some relatives alleged Ghany Junior was an abusive partner with extramarital affairs. A relative told Guardian Media he brought a migrant sex worker to live at his Alexander Road, Vistabella home. The source said he became abusive towards close relatives while maintaining a public image unknown to many.
A protection order was granted to one relative.
The source said: “After he got married, he did the same thing to others. Everyone knows he was abusive, and his conduct was so embarrassing that (name called) started to cut ties with her friends,” the source said.
Police said an autopsy was conducted on Ghany Junior’s body.
Ghany, 37, of Alexander Street, Vistabella, died from gunshot wounds.
Officers were on mobile patrol in the Southern Division when they responded to a shooting-in-progress report relayed by the E999 Command Centre shortly after 9 am.
On arrival at the two-storey house minutes later, officers met the woman, who reported she had shot Ghany in self-defence.
Investigators were told the incident began around 2.30 am when Ghany returned home and an argument over alleged infidelity escalated into a prolonged assault.
Police said by around 8.30 am, the confrontation moved to the bedroom, where the situation turned deadly.
The woman alleged Ghany drew one of his licensed firearms and opened fire but missed. She said she then took another legally owned weapon and fired multiple shots, striking him.
Officers found Ghany slumped on the bedroom floor in boxer shorts with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a District Medical Officer.
