A Laven­tille man re­mained in po­lice cus­tody yes­ter­day, af­ter he was de­tained fol­low­ing re­ports that he was in­volved in sev­er­al rob­beries and break-ins at sev­er­al su­per­mar­kets along the East West Cor­ri­dor.

The 56-year-old—who has ad­dress­es at Priz­gar Lands, Laven­tille; Pic­ton Street, Wood­brook; and Shende Street, San Juan—was held in con­nec­tion with mul­ti­ple re­ports of lar­ce­ny and oth­er lar­ce­ny re­lat­ed of­fences.

The sus­pect is known to dri­ve around with oth­er per­sons to su­per­mar­kets such as Massy Stores, Tru Val­ue, West Bees and oth­ers, and al­so to vis­it sev­er­al phar­ma­cies—where the group would break in­to trucks and oth­er ve­hi­cles trans­port­ing and/or de­liv­er­ing goods from com­pa­nies such as VEM­CO, HAD­CO, AM­CO, and Charles Choco­lates, and load­ing the con­tents in­to their car be­fore es­cap­ing.

Of­fi­cers said the stolen items in­clude but are not lim­it­ed to cheese, choco­lates, but­ter, toi­letries, toys, phar­ma­ceu­ti­cals, cur­ry and mon­ey.
