A 21-year-old man is due to ap­pear at the San­gre Grande Mag­is­trates’ Court on Mon­day af­ter he was charged with Wound­ing with In­tent, and in con­nec­tion with a shoot­ing in­ci­dent at the Cumaca RC Pri­ma­ry School in June.

Po­lice say Daniel Year­wood (al­so called 'Boon') of Old San Pablo Road, Va­len­cia, was charged af­ter of­fi­cers of the Va­len­cia Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID) con­duct­ed en­quiries in­to the re­port of Wound­ing with In­tent, which oc­curred at the Cumaca RC Pri­ma­ry School.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, around 8:05 am on Mon­day, June 5, while drop­ping off his child at the Cumaca RC Pri­ma­ry School, lo­cat­ed at Flam­boy­ant Cres­cent, Va­len­cia, a 30-year-old man al­leged­ly ob­served a man run­ning to­wards him on the road­way hold­ing a firearm.

The man ran un­to the school com­pound, and he was pur­sued by the as­sailant, who al­leged­ly point­ed the firearm in his di­rec­tion and shot him.

The vic­tim felt a burn­ing sen­sa­tion to his right arm and the as­sailant then ran out of the school com­pound and es­caped through a near­by ceme­tery.

The vic­tim made a re­port at the Va­len­cia Po­lice Post and was con­veyed to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal to seek med­ical at­ten­tion.

En­quiries in­to the in­ci­dent were con­duct­ed by of­fi­cers of Va­len­cia CID, un­der the su­per­vi­sion of Ag/Cpl Jupiter.

The sus­pect was ar­rest­ed on Ju­ly 6 in the San­gre Grande Dis­trict and the of­fi­cers con­duct­ed fur­ther en­quiries in the in­ci­dent.

On com­ple­tion of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion, Le­gal Of­fi­cer Sgt Cortez was con­sult­ed, and Ag/Cpl Khan re­ceived in­struc­tions to charge the ac­cused with Wound­ing with In­tent.
