The South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) turned away dozens of people at the newly opened vaccination site at PowerGen, Syne Village Penal yesterday after they showed up without appointments.

According to a release from the SWRHA, some of these walk-ins were, however, successful in receiving a jab.

“While a manageable gathering turned up at the location, several without confirmed appointments, most were vaccinated, whereas the remainder were encouraged to make an appointment. All our valued clients were in high praise of the smooth and customer-focused process,” it said.

It reminds the population that vaccines will be administered by appointment only at their three district health facilities, 31 health centres and two mass sites at the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA) & Penal PowerGen facility.

The SWRHA said some 3,000 people with confirmed appointments were expected to receive their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at all its health locations yesterday.
