Po­lice ex­er­cis­es in the sev­en di­vi­sions be­tween Sat­ur­day night and yes­ter­day morn­ing re­sult­ed in sev­en per­sons be­ing ar­rest­ed for var­i­ous of­fences. Among them was a 15-year-old who was held for rob­bing and wound­ing a pa­tron at a bar on the Ch­agua­nas Main Road.

At around 1.30 am on Sat­ur­day the teenag­er al­leged­ly an­nounced a rob­bery and at­tempt­ed to grab cash from a pa­tron who was lim­ing at the bar. The vic­tim be­gan to fight with the teenag­er who re­port­ed­ly broke a bot­tle and used it to stab the pa­tron sev­er­al times in the face be­fore es­cap­ing on foot. He was held a short dis­tance away by a se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cer from the bar and tak­en to the Ch­agua­nas Po­lice Sta­tion.

In an ex­er­cise on Sat­ur­day in the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion, of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed Roger Ram­per­sad, af­ter 4.2 grammes of co­caine was al­leged­ly found at his Cou­va home as when of­fi­cers ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant. He was lat­er charged for pos­ses­sion of the nar­cot­ic.

Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion, of­fi­cers then went to an area in Ch­agua­nas known for the sale of il­lic­it drugs where, with the as­sis­tance of the Ca­nine Unit, they al­leged­ly found 288 grammes of mar­i­jua­na in an aban­doned build­ing.

North­ern Di­vi­sion of­fi­cers al­so seized a quan­ti­ty of mar­i­jua­na and am­mu­ni­tion when they car­ried out a search war­rant at a house in Cara­po on Sat­ur­day. A 27-year-old man was ar­rest­ed af­ter 776 grammes of mar­i­jua­na and ten rounds of nine-mil­lime­tre am­mu­ni­tion were found on the premis­es.

East­ern Di­vi­sion of­fi­cers ar­rest­ed a 32-year-old Ma­yaro man for pos­ses­sion of two rounds of 12-gauge car­tridges.

In an­oth­er in­ci­dent, five pounds of cured mar­i­jua­na and 160 ful­ly grown mar­i­jua­na trees were seized dur­ing an ex­er­cise by of­fi­cers in the To­co dis­trict. The plants, which were found at an aban­doned house off Ceme­tery Street, were sub­se­quent­ly de­stroyed by the of­fi­cers.

Mem­bers of the West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force did an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise in Bagatelle, Diego Mar­ti, be­tween 11 am and 6 pm on Sat­ur­day. Dur­ing a search of an aban­doned lot of land in an area known as Gaza, the of­fi­cers al­leged­ly found a Steyr Mannlich­er .40 cal­i­bre pis­tol fit­ted with a mag­a­zine with five rounds of 40 cal­i­bre am­mu­ni­tion hid­den be­hind a gal­va­nized fence.

Ex­er­cis­es in the North East­ern Di­vi­sion on Sat­ur­day led to the re­cov­ery of a white Nis­san Ti­i­da which had re­port­ed stolen in Ch­agua­nas. Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion, of­fi­cers went to Williams and Bom­bay Streets, El So­cor­ro, where they al­leged­ly found a black bag con­tain­ing 67 grammes of mar­i­jua­na in three clear plas­tic pack­ets hid­den in a wall on the east­ern side of the street.

Of­fi­cers of the In­ter-Agency Task Force per­formed road check ex­er­cis­es be­tween 5 pm and 9 pm on Sat­ur­day and stopped a sil­ver Nis­san Ver­sa with two oc­cu­pants. The car was searched and a rec­tan­gu­lar ob­ject wrapped in red tape con­tain­ing 533 grammes of mar­i­jua­na was al­leged­ly found un­der the left front pas­sen­ger seat. One of the ve­hi­cle’s oc­cu­pants was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the find.

Two men were de­tained on Sat­ur­day, fol­low­ing a re­port of rob­bery with vi­o­lence in St Mary’s. Re­ports are that a 32-year-old man had just en­tered his car which was parked out­side a su­per­mar­ket at around 7 pm on Sat­ur­day, when he was ap­proached by three men who al­leged­ly dealt him sev­er­al blows about his body and robbed him of a quan­ti­ty of cash and oth­er items. Two of the men were ar­rest­ed short­ly af­ter with the as­sis­tance of South­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force – Area East of­fi­cers.
