Teen in court for gyro businessman's murder

An 18-year-old from Bon Ac­cord is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a Scar­bor­ough Mag­is­trate to­day charged with the mur­der of gy­ro busi­ness­man Elias Dab­bourah.

The teen was held two days af­ter the 30-year-old from Syr­ia was shot in the left side of the head dur­ing a botched rob­bery at Crown Point on Sepetm­ber 9.

Dur­ing the in­ci­dent, it is al­leged that two armed sus­pects ap­proached Dab­bourah and an­nounced a hold-up, the gy­ro busi­ness­man re­sist­ed and was shot.

He died six days af­ter the in­ci­dent. He nev­er re­gained con­scious­ness.

Dab­bourah was laid to rest on Wednes­day.

Last evening, the Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (DPP) gave in­struc­tions to charge the teen.

A sec­ond sus­pect who was held in­con­nec­tion with his mur­der was re­leased by in­ves­ti­ga­tors pend­ing fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
