The Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) is on heightened alert as the island faces the effects of the fourth tropical wave of the 2025 Atlantic season.
By 2 p.m. on Tuesday 10th June, TEMA had received ten reports of weather-related incidents, including flooding, fallen trees, and electrical hazards in several communities. Most incidents were addressed and cleared by emergency responders.
Key incidents included fallen trees blocking roads in Mason Hall, Glamorgan, Belle Garden, and Charlotteville; flooding at homes in Whim and Scarborough; a tree collapse on a house in Delaford; and high-tension electrical wires resting on a rooftop in Belle Garden.
As a precaution, the Secretary for Education ordered the closure of all schools across Tobago at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has issued a Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert #2, in effect until 4 p.m. on Wednesday 11th June. The alert warns of gusty winds, street and flash flooding, and the likelihood of more tropical waves affecting the region through Friday 13th June.
TEMA continues to monitor the situation closely and is coordinating with key agencies. The Tobago Emergency Operations Centre (TEOC) remains on standby and may be activated if reports escalate or conditions deteriorate.
Residents are urged to stay alert, follow official advisories, and report emergencies by calling 211 or sending a WhatsApp message to TEMA at 868-729-4932.
