The daughter of a Tobago House of Assembly (THA) secretary was among the Form Two students involved in the fight at Signal Hill Secondary School where approximately 20 students viciously beat another female student last Friday.
A parent whose child was also involved in the fight confirmed that the THA secretary attended a meeting about the incident on Monday and apologised to the victim.
However, the secretary did not attend the second meeting where the students were suspended.
In video, which has been widely circulated since Monday, the victim was kicked slapped chocked, and pushed in all directions.
One student even climbed on a desk to kick the victim in the head from above.
Contacted for a comment, the THA’s secretary told Guardian Media she doesn’t think the matter is any of the media’s business.
The secretary said the only thing the media should be speaking to her about is her public life, political career and the work that she does.
“Why are you asking me about that? I think the only thing the media should be speaking to me about is my public life and my political career and the work that I do as a public servant.”
The mother of the child involved in the attack confirmed that the secretary and her daughter were at the meeting and both apologised for the ordeal.
Police have since launched and investigation into the matter.
