This country’s largest distribution company, the Brydens Group, recently celebrated being in business for 100 years, with its top executives pointing to greater expansion and growth over the next 100.
On Friday 27th October 2023, the Brydens Group marked its 100th Anniversary with a special celebration for its employees. Decked out in anniversary polos, Brydens’ staff got together at the company’s San Juan compound to ring in the centennial milestone with food, drink and prizes.
“Reaching such a tremendous milestone reflects the drive and passion of the people in the Brydens Group, who collectively serve hundreds of thousands of customers every year,” said Richard Pandohie, Seprod and Bryden’s Group Chief Executive Officer.
“Our employees are the heart of the organisation, embodying the customer-first, people-centred approach for which Brydens is known and loved. On this major anniversary, we wanted to show appreciation to all of the talented people who have contributed to our success,” the Brydens Group CEO stated.
And Brydens Group Deputy Chairman, Michael Conyers, asserted:
“We continue to be a formidable distribution partner of choice for international brands and, as we expand our footprint beyond our local shores, we are confident that our reputation for trust and integrity will open new regional growth opportunities for us.”
Acquired in June 2022 by the Seprod Group of Jamaica, the Brydens Group now employs over 1,500 people in Trinidad and Tobago. All employees had the opportunity to take part in a company lottery where 100 lucky winners won prizes contributed from across the Group.
The five big prizes included trips to Jamaica, Barbados, Tobago, a Hyatt Weekend Staycation and TT$10,000 in cash. Other prizes were valued at $500 each. Employees were awarded tickets to the lottery based on their tenure, so those who had served the company longest had the highest chances of winning big.
With a century of history behind its name, the Bryden’s Group began business in Trinidad and Tobago in October 1923 when William Bryden, the second son of Arthur Sydney Bryden, moved to Trinidad to form a branch of his father’s business.
‘A.S. Bryden and Sons’ has since evolved into the dynamic Bryden's Group of today, made up of several subsidiaries including Bryden pi, F.T. Farfan, Franco Trading & Distribution Limited and Micon Marketing.
