Three arrested at Mayaro beach

Three men ap­peared be­fore a Ma­yaro Mag­is­trate to­day charged with Breach of the Emer­gency Pow­ers Reg­u­la­tions. The men were fined by Mag­is­trate Wendy Dougdeen-Bal­ly $7,500 each or in de­fault six weeks with hard labour.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, on June 8th, of­fi­cers were on pa­trol and re­spond­ed to in­for­ma­tion which led them to the Coast­line from Stone Bright Vil­lage to Bon Es­poire Road, Ma­yaro. Once there, the of­fi­cers ob­served three men on the beach. When the men were ques­tioned, they had no rea­son­able ex­pla­na­tion.

The men were im­me­di­ate­ly ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the Rio Claro Po­lice Sta­tion where they were charged for the of­fence. The sus­pects were Tevon Ross, 25, of Belle Eau Road, Ma­yaro, Joseph Boodoo, 37, of Coop­er Trace, Mafek­ing Vil­lage, Ma­yaro and Roy Mitchell, 27, of Tabaquite Road, Rio Claro.

The ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by ASP Jan­kee and In­sp (Ag) Rag­bir and su­per­vised by Sgt Mo­hammed, Cpls Neaves, Flo­res and in­clud­ed of­fi­cers of the Ma­yaro Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID), Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tion Task­force, Emer­gency Re­sponse Pa­trol, and the Rio Claro CID and Task­force.
